BUS STOP is a Road Safety Initiative for Children in Aberdeenshire Schools. BUS STOP has been designed to highlight the potential risks for children when getting off school transport and the dangers of distraction in this situation. BUS STOP will become an integral part of Aberdeenshire’s approach to child road safety and help avoid tragedies in the future.
In September 2008, two Aberdeenshire pupils sadly lost their lives after getting off school transport. The impact of these tragedies has been felt not only by the families but by all of us who work in Education, Learning & Leisure and indeed across our communities.
BUS STOP has been designed to help highlight the potential risks when getting off school transport and the dangers of distraction in this situation. BUS STOP will become an integral part of our approach to road safety and I sincerely hope that this initiative helps avoid similar tragedies in the future.
